On Your Head
These words reminded me of a personal experience I had on my 50th birthday. We decided to have a celebration dinner at our house. We invited friends and family to join us. I had wanted to do something special on my 50th to demonstrate the the big 5-0 was not a decline for me, but to show my own energy. I decided to try to stand on my head, right there in the living room before my guests. I had done some practicing (not enough) beforehand, and on that night proceeded to show off my agility. I got half way up on my head with my legs dangling. I couldn't quite push to a full steady state. My legs teetered over, and crashed down, grazing the card table where my birthday cake stood. The rumbling of the table due to the blow from my feet, shook the cake and dislodged a few pieces. Luckily most of the cake withstood the contact and was still edible. Everyone gasped and later joshed me over this sad attempt to stand on my head....
